For the past 25 years, Southampton Common – a 350-acre green space and Site of Special Interest within the city – has been a constant source of inspiration and wonder for Jo, who walks, cycles or runs through it most days.
For an exhibition entitled,`Making Your Mark – Southampton Stories’, at Solent Showcase Gallery in 2019, Jo created a tactile map of the Historic Cemetery which is part of the Common.
In addition to the layout of the paths and chapel buildings, the tactile map comprises a sensory trail highlighting some of the common and not so common trees and headstones which feature in this wonderful arboretum, contained within Southampton’s Old Cemetery walls.
